Mr. Todd Jenkins

Todd Jenkins was raised in North Augusta, South Carolina, and received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of South Carolina in 1997. He then received his Master of Music degree from Ithaca College in Ithaca, New York. While studying at Ithaca, Todd met his future wife, Kate, who was an undergraduate trombone student at the time.

Todd currently serves as Pastor of Instrumental Music at East Cooper Baptist Church in Mount Pleasant. At East Cooper, he conducts the Sanctuary Orchestra and hand-bell ensemble, directs the East Cooper Arts Academy, and teaches Sunday School. In addition to conducting the Charleston Community Band and the ensembles at East Cooper, Todd has also for the last two years conducted the Spring Musical productions at Charleston Southern University. Before coming to East Cooper, he was Director of Brass Studies and interim Director of Bands at Brevard College.

An active trumpet player and teacher, Todd performs as principal trumpet of the Augusta Opera and frequently performs as an extra musician with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed with the Syracuse Symphony, the King’s Brass, Eurobrass, and his own brass sextet, the Crescent Brass. He maintains a private studio of approximately fifteen students.
Todd and Kate (who is now a very busy professional trombonist and teacher) live in Charleston with their dog, two cats and turtle.
